About two weeks after Hurricane Sandy devastated our beaches we decided to go up to the beach and see what it looked like. You still can't get to many of the beaches. Belmar, Sear Girt and Manasquan are still off limits. We were able to get to some parts of Spring Lake. What we saw was heartbreaking. We saw the pictures on TV and the computer but until you are actually there it doesn't feel real. When I walked on to the Spring Lake beach my heart dropped. There was no more boardwalk. The dunes that used to be there are practically gone. Parts of the boardwalk are scattered around Ocean Ave and even down the streets. It is like nothing I have ever seen before. It looks like a war zone. And to think that many other shore towns were totally devastated it just so hard to think about.

All that is left of the boardwalk is the cement footers that the boards used to lay on.
Parts of the railing were just laying in the sand. They were just ripped out of the boardwalk and blown around like they were feathers.
Looking for seashells... One of our favorite things to do.
My girls.
There was a nice couple on the beach who offered to take a picture of us.

Some of the only boards left looked like this.
Part of a bench just laying next to the dunes.
Driving around there is so much restoration going on. The towns are working hard to bring back what we love about the shore. Can't wait to see how the Jersey Shore is rebuilt! Bigger and Better than before.
