Dying Easter Eggs 101

When I was young it seemed so easy to dye Easter Eggs. You boil some eggs and place the boiled eggs in the little cups filled with dyed water. Thank goodness Gracie won't remember her first time dying Easter Eggs. It was a learning experience for me. The directions read to place 3 tablespoons of vinegar into a cup with the colored tablet and let the tablet dissolve. Well my choices of vinegar were red wine vinegar or rice vinegar. I had no plain vinegar so I went with the rice vinegar. The tablet would not dissolve fully but I figured it would be fine... Well the eggs took FOREVER to change color. Sooooo we tried another batch and tried the second set of directions that read... Dissolve the tablet in three tablespoons of water. The eggs looked a little better but not great. Third time was a charm.. Hot Water and Food Coloring - BINGO!!! We have a winner. The eggs came out very pretty.

These were just a few of the 36 eggs we colored! I'm sure next year will be better. Practice makes perfect :)
